About
James Weir is a journalist and columnist who has won over a legion of fans with his observational reporting and offbeat perspective. His popular TV column has been running on news.com.au for a decade and raises an eyebrow at some of the country’s most ridiculous reality shows. He has covered major local and international assignments including federal elections, Harry and Meghan’s royal tour in South Africa and the Paris Olympics. His first novel, The Hemsworth Effect, was inspired by a series of dispatches from Byron Bay that originally appeared in his syndicated national newspaper column. Away from writing, he has been heard regularly across Australia on ABC radio and KIIS FM’s The Kyle & Jackie O Show.
“James really is one of Australia’s best comedic writers.”
— Jackie ‘O’ Henderson, The Kyle & Jackie O Show
“James Weir is a national treasure. An original talent and an intelligent and hilarious wordsmith.”
— Samantha Armytage, broadcaster and journalist
“With his acerbic wit and brilliant take downs, James Weir is a snort-out-loud writer who turns a devilish eye on the wannabes.”
— Lisa Millar, ABC News Breakfast host
